Kevin Gameiro (37) announced that he would be leaving RS Strasbourg Alsace at the end of the season in a press conference held today. The veteran striker has been approaching the end of his contract after signing a one-year extension last summer.
Gamerio confirmed that this would be his last club in France with the forward wanting to have one more adventure abroad before retiring from the professional game. A four-time winner of the Europa League (three with Sevilla and one with Atlético de Madrid) his return to France in 2021 with Strasbourg saw him record his centurion of Ligue 1 goals this season.
Strasbourg was a homecoming for a forward who developed in the club’s academy and a city where he made his first professional steps in 2005. The game against FC Metz on Sunday evening will be the last time that Gameiro will take to the Stade de la Meinau as a player.
