Kevin Kampl, 35, left RB Leipzig in January after the sudden death of his brother, and is now working the land in Majorca. He has refocused on family life, swapping dressing rooms for the gardens of a small finca.
On 27 October 2025, he announced the death of his brother Seki, 51, on social media. In January he ended his Leipzig contract after eight and a half seasons, 283 matches and two German Cups, intending to return to his native Solingen. Bild reports that he later also lost his father and described the year as terrible, with the island’s calm helping the family.
In recent days he shared a post showing himself crouched in a straw hat with a plate of homegrown produce. He has been growing melons, watermelons, tomatoes, onions, peppers and more, along with their own olive oil.
The former midfielder’s days now revolve around simple, small-scale agriculture on a Balearic smallholding, far from football’s noise. He is surrounded by family and the hum of the gardens.
Yet football is not gone from his thoughts. He has not ruled out returning one day, including a possible role on the RB Leipzig bench, a club he has often professed to love.
