Eupen have announced the signing of Kevin Möhwald from Union Berlin. The 29-year-old central midfielder has signed a contract with the club that will run until 2026. Since joining Union in the summer of 2021, Möhwald made 21 appearances. He joins former Werder Bremen head coach Florian Kohfeldt, who was recently announced as Eupen’s new head coach.
Möhwald played for Kohfeldt at Werder Bremen before he moved to Union. during that time, the midfielder made 60 appearances and scored nine goals. He began his career with Rot-Weiss Erfurt, making 103 appearances and scoring 12 goals. This caught the attention of 1. FC Nürnberg, who signed the player in July 2015. He went on to make almost 100 appearances for the side, scoring another 12 goals before departing for Werder Bremen in the summer of 2018.
Eupen will be hoping that Möhwald can bring some quality to a midfield that has seen Stef Peeters leave on a free. The midfielder led from the front for Eupen last season, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists.
