Huddersfield Town's owner, Kevin Nagle, has reacted to the fact that his side currently has the third-cheapest season ticket in the EFL

Huddersfield Town owner Kevin Nagle has come under a lot of criticism since he took over the club in June 2023.

The Terriers were relegated from the Championship in his first season in charge, and despite the money he has invested into improving the club both off and on the field since, the club have yet to finish inside the League One play-offs in their two years in the third tier.

A lot of the critiques have surrounded managerial personnel. Darren Moore and Andre Breitenreiter, Nagle's first two hires, managed a combined five wins in the second tier. Michael Duff lasted under a year in charge, and Lee Grant lasted even less time, too.

It's safe to say that ownership hasn't gone to plan just yet, but Huddersfield have recently been praised for their season ticket prices, something which Kevin Nagle has taken pride in.

Towards the summer months, football clubs come under the microscope surrounding their new season ticket prices.

With life in general costing more, working-class fans have been looking towards their football clubs to keep costs low so they can enjoy supporting their club without it taking an added financial strain.

The Lower Tiers, an account on X, have taken time to praise the clubs that are doing just that, releasing a list of the cheapest adult season tickets for 2026/27, based on the early bird option they have for fans.

Huddersfield ranks third in that list, behind Fleetwood Town and Doncaster Rovers, with the season ticket in the Terriers Together lower stand costing adults just £249, which works out as an average of £10.83 per game.

Kevin Nagle, one of the more vocal owners online, tweeted in response to that: "UTT!" Evidently, he's pleased that his club has been recognised as having one of the more affordable season tickets in the EFL, and now it's up to the squad on the field to make it even more value for money than it already is.

Huddersfield Town's cheapest season ticket comes with caveats, but it's still good value

Huddersfield fans were quick to point out, though, that the Terrriers Together lower tier isn't one of the best stands to watch football in, given that it's fully exposed with no roof over it.

"You know the comparison is unfair. Those seats are exposed to wind and rain," one fan wrote in response. "Children sunburnt in the summer and drowned in the winter," another said.

Ultimately, though, that outlines why the season ticket is amongst the cheapest in the EFL, and it's something that Huddersfield fans will have to debate whether the lower price is worth it for the potential to be rained on during the winter months.

If the elements factor was still the case, and the ticket was priced at a similar rate to some of the other stands in the Accu Stadium, then it would be one of the worst value for money tickets in the EFL, and the ownership would be coming under a lot of criticism for it.

As it happens, with the prices as they are now, the complaints aren't really that justified.

So, Huddersfield fans have the choice of paying a little more money for a potentially more pleasant viewing experience, but if they are strapped for cash and can brave the weather every other Saturday, then there are only two cheaper places they can watch football in, which can be something to take pride in.

Hopefully, the fans can have a little more pride in other elements of the club next season, alongside the positive news surrounding the season ticket prices.
