Peruvian FIFA referee Kevin Ortega, 42, will take charge of Santos v Macará of Ecuador on Thursday 13 at 19:00 at Vila Belmiro, the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana last 16.

His team includes assistants Michael Orue and Jesus Sanchez, with Jordi Espinoza as fourth official, all from Peru. VAR is Joel Alarcon, AVAR is Diego Haro, the referee assessor is Candelario Andarcia of Venezuela, and Jorge Mercado of Paraguay is quality manager. This will be his third Santos assignment. He oversaw the 2-1 win against Delfín of Ecuador at Estádio Jocay in the 2020 Libertadores group stage.

In 2022 he handled the 1-1 draw with Deportivo Táchira of Venezuela at Vila Belmiro in the Sudamericana last 16 second leg. Santos were then eliminated 5-3 on penalties.
