La Liga champions Barcelona could be left without the services of a key member of their midfield ranks this weekend.

This comes amid confirmation that Pedri played no part in group training on Friday morning.

The Spanish international, it is understood, is dealing with a case of muscular overload, enough for him not to be risked by Hansi Flick and co. at the Ciutat Esportiva.

As per a report from Blaugrana insider Carlos Monfort of Diario Sport:

‘Tomorrow’s session will be key to knowing how he’s feeling and seeing if he’s in condition to play or not.’

Barcelona are of course primed to see out their pre-Christmas fixture list on Sunday, by way of a highly-anticipated trip to Villarreal.

The Yellow Submarine currently sit 3rd in the La Liga table, eight points back of Barca, but with two games in hand.

Pedri missing out at La Cerámica, in turn, would come as a heavy blow for Hansi Flick’s troops heading into the new year.
