Barcelona pulled off a stunning comeback win over Atletico Madrid last weekend in La Liga overturning a two-goal deficit to secure a crucial 4-2 victory.
However, the win came at a cost as the Blaugrana lost two key players, Inigo Martinez and Marc Casado, to knee injuries during the match.
Casado’s injury is such that he might not play again this season but things are more positive with regard to Martinez’s condition, with the defender expected to be back in 2-3 weeks from the date of injury.
However, according to AS, Martinez is pushing to make a comeback from his injury in time for Barcelona’s rescheduled match against Osasuna on March 27 – right after the international break.
The centre-back had been called up by Luis de la Fuente for the Spanish national team but had to withdraw after tests revealed an inflammation of the inner meniscus in his right knee.

Fortunately for both the player and the coaching staff, the injury is minor, and his recovery is progressing well. Within the Barcelona dressing room, the target is clear: to have Martinez fit for the rescheduled match against Osasuna.
Martinez’s return is even more crucial now that Ronald Araujo is almost certain to miss the Osasuna clash.
The Uruguayan will play for his national team in Bolivia on Tuesday, 25 March, making it virtually impossible for him to recover in time for Thursday’s match.
With Pau Cubarsi also picking up a knock while playing for Spain last night, Hansi Flick might consider not risking him either, leaving Eric Garcia as the only fit and available centre-back to face Osasuna.
As such, Martinez’s return becomes very critical for Barcelona and the player is making efforts to ensure that he recovers in time to face Osasuna.
