Key defender returns as Barcelona complete final training session before Levante | OneFootball

After having faced Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League in their midweek game, which ended in a 5-1 win, FC Barcelona are set to return to La Liga action this weekend as they face Levante at the Estadi Ciutat de Valencia on Sunday.

The Blaugranes have been preparing for this match for some days now, and held their final training session ahead of this game on Saturday. Mundo Deportivo has reported on some highlights from this session, which can give indications on how Hansi Flick might opt to field his team.

One of the most notable absences was that of the youngster Jesse Bisiwu, who did not train with the first team as the reserve team will be counting on him for their upcoming game. However, Hamza Abdelkarim, who yesterday agreed on a new contract with Barcelona, continued training with the first team.

Another notable presence was Eric Garcia. The Spaniard missed the game against Feyenoord because of suspension, and had suffered a blow to his nose during the previous game against Rayo Vallecano. As a result, he trained with a protective mask on, and, if selected, will also play with this mask in the upcoming match.

With Garcia’s return, Roony Bardghji and Frenkie de Jong remain the only players who are still unavailable, as they continue to recover from their respective injuries. Other than these two, Flick will have the full squad to choose from, and can opt to rest some of his regular starters against Levante to keep them fresh for some upcoming games before the start of the September international break.

However, he will still have to field quite a strong lineup for the game tomorrow, especially as Barcelona will be looking to keep up the momentum from their excellent start to the new season, and to continue enjoying a comfortable lead over Real Madrid in the league table.
