Ansu Fati is now set to become an AS Monaco player, with the official announcement of the loan deal expected to arrive soon.
Barcelona and Monaco reached a definitive agreement earlier this week, following which contracts were drafted and the player completed his medical on Friday.
Now, according to SPORT, the operation was not finalised in time for an official announcement on Friday, and as such it is now expected to take place on Monday.
The move allows Barcelona to make significant savings on wages and opens the door for a permanent departure in 2026.
Barcelona’s priority was to offload the full €12 million gross salary that Ansu was set to receive this season.
Monaco, benefiting from favourable tax conditions, submitted a solid offer which improved over time, but Barça will still cover part of the player’s salary.
The loan agreement is for one season. Monaco will cover approximately €3.7 million net of Ansu’s salary, which translates into a wage bill reduction of nearly €8 million for Barcelona – a substantial figure in the context of their squad planning.

This exit, along with that of Clement Lenglet, was deemed essential to free up space for new player registrations in the club’s new project.
The deal includes a non-mandatory purchase option set at €11 million. Barcelona will not have a buy-back clause but will retain a significant percentage of any future sale.
It is now evident that Ansu Fati no longer features in the club’s plans, and there is optimism that Monaco will sign him permanently next summer.
Fati had options to remain in La Liga on loan, and there were also offers for a permanent move to Saudi Arabia.
However, the player instructed his agent, Jorge Mendes, to prioritise Monaco. This was because he was attracted by the sporting project, the city, and the competitive nature of the French league.
The La Masia graduate and his camp believe that Monaco would provide the right environment to rediscover his best form and revive his career.
