Key Liverpool figures believe Premier League star is their ‘IDEAL’ signing

Liverpool's 'ideal' signing is currently playing in the Premier League. That's according to key figures inside the club.

Liverpool spent an incredible amount of money in the summer, twice breaking their own transfer record. The Reds now hold the overall British transfer record, too.

But did they actually sign their 'ideal' player? It does feel like maybe they did, given Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak are two of the biggest talents in world football.

Wirtz, in particular, was sought-after by half of Europe. The Reds produced a genuine coup in getting him at a time when everyone felt he was destined for Bayern Munich or Manchester City.

Isak was a struggle to sign as Newcastle United were incredibly reluctant to sell. Liverpool were willing to spend an unprecedented amount to get him, though, and that saw the deal get over the line.

But despite the £450m spent, there's now a claim that the 'ideal' signing never arrived.

Antoine Semenyo and Liverpool

The Telegraph claims that some 'important' figures at Liverpool felt Antoine Semenyo was the 'ideal' signing last summer. It's one the Reds never got over the line, though, and it's unclear whether they actually bid for the Bournemouth star.

It is one that makes complete sense, however. Semenyo may well be exactly what Liverpool are looking for as they prepare for a time without Mo Salah.
