Manchester take on Aston Villa at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. Here is the team we think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will select for the game:
Goalkeeper: David De Gea is set for a recall after being rested for the Europa League trip to Astana on Thursday so Lee Grant will make way with Sergio Romero on the bench.
Defence: Solskjaer deployed a back three during the draw with Sheffield United last weekend. Ideally he would switch to a back four at home to Aston Villa but a lack of central midfield options may force him to play a back three again on Sunday.
Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof are certain to be recalled in defence after not making the trip to Kazakhstan on Thursday. Axel Tuanzebe would usually be next in-line to start but he played 90 minutes in the Europa League having only just returned from injury so Solskjaer may not want to risk him again so soon.
Therefore, Phil Jones may be recalled to start against Villa despite his poor performances versus Sheffield United. Eric Bailly, Tim Fosu-Mensah and Diogo Dalot are back in training but are lacking match fitness so they’re expected to miss out along with Marcos Rojo – who’s out with a muscle injury.
Brandom Williams appears to have moved ahead of Ashley Young and Luke Shaw in the pecking order so he could start at left wing-back while Aaron Wan-Bissaka should be recalled on the opposite flank.
Midfield: Manchester United have problems in midfield as Paul Pogba is still missing as he’s continuing to work his way back to full fitness from a troublesome ankle injury.
Scott McTominay is close to being available again after missing the last three games with his own ankle problem but Sunday’s match will probably come too soon while Nemanja Matic remains out with a groin issue.
Therefore, we should see Fred and Andreas Pereira recalled after being rested for the Astana game so James Garner and Dylan Levitt are likely to make way despite putting in solid performance in the Europa League.
Attack: United will make wholesale changes in attack as Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James are expected to be recalled after being rested for the trip to Astana on Thursday.
Jesse Lingard is set to make way despite scoring last time out while youngsters Mason Greenwood and Angel Gomes will also drop out after starting in the Europa League group stage clash.
Here is how we think Manchester United will line-up:
