Amad Diallo rightly grabbed the headlines for his magnificent display in Manchester United’s 2-1 win over Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium yesterday.

The 22-year-old’s brilliance helped United record a victory at the Etihad for the time since 2021.

Another player whose performance went under the radar was Noussair Mazraoui. The Moroccan was up against Jeremy Doku, and he fared well.

Mazraoui ranked joint-second for the most ground duels won. He won seven ground duels. Bernardo Silva was the only player with more (eight).

He also made six tackles in the game, the most in the contest, to prove his willingness to engage in a physical battle with the opposition.

Doku was the most untidy player in the game. He lost possession 21 times, largely due to Mazraoui’s brilliant defensive work.

The Morocco international registered 77 touches throughout the game, the most of any United player.

Diallo registered the most shots (four) in the game, alongside last season’s Premier League Player of the Season Phil Foden.

The Ivorian completed five dribbles, the most of any player on the pitch. Jeremy Doku was the only player to attempt more dribbles (11) than him (eight).

Unsurprisingly, Diallo was also one of the most dangerous players in the game. He garnered 0.67 expected goals. Bruno Fernandes was the only player that had more (1.24).

Lisandro Martinez and Ruben Dias shared the accolades for the best passing accuracy. They recorded a 98 percent pass completion rate.

Matthijs de Ligt and Erling Braut Haaland were involved in more aerial duels than any player. The Dutchman won more. He came out on top in four of the five aerial duels he was involved in.

Harry Maguire played in United’s three-man centre-back system, and he did not fare badly. He registered three clearances, the most in the game.

The English defender was also the only player to have registered at least three tackles and not get dribbled past. Maguire also read the game well, recording five interceptions.
