Kaizer Chiefs host Siwelele FC at FNB Stadium!
Khanyisa Mayo gives his teammates some important words ahead of their upcoming Kaizer Chiefs match!
Under the lights of the FNB Stadium this Wednesday evening, Coach Khalil Ben Youssef's Kaizer Chiefs face a critical test against Siwelele FC. For Amakhosi, this is more than just a match; it's a necessary mission to reclaim their momentum and secure three vital points.
Despite a promising start that has them sitting in fourth place on the log, a shadow of frustration looms over the squad. Their recent form tells a troubling story, with just a single victory—secured on penalties against Kabuscorp in the CAF Confederation Cup—to show from their last seven outings across all competitions. This dip has made their two games in hand over leaders Mamelodi Sundowns a precious opportunity they cannot afford to waste.
Within the camp, the focus is on unity and resilience. As attacker Ashley Mayo explained, the team is actively blocking out the noise and turning to internal competition to reignite their fighting spirit. “We haven’t been getting positive results but we are motivating each other every day and we compete at training to keep the spirits high because we need to win to compete,” Mayo told journalists.
Acknowledging off-field distractions, the Mthatha-born player emphasized the importance of looking forward, stating, “We need to encourage each other despite the incidents that have been trending for the past few days. It’s in the past and we have to focus on the game that we are about to play."
As Wednesday night approaches, the challenge for Kaizer Chiefs is clear: to translate their training ground resolve into a much-needed victory on the pitch.
