Kiat Lim attends first match at Mestalla as Valencia president | OneFootball

Kiat Lim was at Mestalla to oversee his first Valencia match as president at the Trofeo Naranja, ending a 533-day absence of a club president in the directors' box.

As reported by AS, the Lim family have been unusually visible around Valencia in recent weeks.

The last home fixture with a president present came on 22 February 2025, a 0-3 league defeat to Atlético Madrid. Layhoon Chan watched that game and left the post two weeks later, with Kiat, son of majority shareholder Peter Lim, taking over. Until now his only match in person as president was a friendly between Valencia Mestalla and Johor FC, the club of his friend Prince Tunku Ismail, in La Nucía.

He arrived in the directors' box shortly before kick-off, having followed the official team presentation from a private suite. He stayed out of public view until near the start, largely unnoticed by a crowd that included many families with children.

In minute 19, Mestalla chanted for Peter Lim to leave, which his son heard live for the first time.

Two weeks ago Peter Lim made a brief visit to the city, touring the Nou Mestalla works and dining with Inma Ibáñez, Ron Gourlay and Javier Solís after almost seven years away. On Friday Kiat joined the squad at the Basilica and the Nou Mestalla, then returned today to watch Carlos Corberán’s team.
