Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has confirmed that Harry Clarke is in talks to leave Portman Road on loan this January.
Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has revealed that right-back Harry Clarke is in talks over a temporary move away from Portman Road this month, with Sheffield United keen to land his signature.
The 24-year-old has struggled for minutes this season, having sustained an injury in pre-season which kept him out until September. However, even after his return, Clarke has been unable to break into the first team squad.
Now, boss McKenna is weighing up his options in the January transfer window, and has revealed that the right-back has entered talks to secure a loan exit from the Suffolk-based side this month.
The Ipswich boss revealed in a recent interview with TWTD that the Arsenal academy graduate is in talks with another unnamed club, as he looks to secure more minutes in the second half of the season.
Sheffield United and Charlton Athletic have both shown interest in the right-back, but it remains unclear where his potential new home may be, as McKenna remained tight-lipped regarding the finer details.

It's no surprise that, with the lack of minutes he's had this season, Clarke will be searching for more game time in the second half of the season, as he continues to get back up to speed following a long spell away from first-team action.
The 24-year-old did the same last term when the Tractor Boys were in the Premier League, opting for a move to Sheffield United in January to help them with their push for promotion.
Since then, Clarke returned to Ipswich following their relegation to the Championship, and was a part of their squad until he sustained an injury in pre-season, and hasn't featured since in any senior competitions.
Despite this, it seems the defender still has suitors, as McKenna revealed in an interview with TWTD that Clarke is in talks with another club over a potential loan move away from Portman Road this winter.
The 39-year-old said: “There’s a chance, we’ll see how it goes over the weekend, but he’s in talks with a club at the moment.
“So there’s a chance that he might go on loan for the second half of the season.”
We don't know who the club is that Clarke is in talks with, but it's been reported that both former loan club Sheffield United and Charlton are keen on signing the former Arsenal man this winter.

After a solid loan spell at Bramall Lane last term, Chris Wilder is reportedly keen on reuniting with Clarke this January, but has just signed another right-back in Ki-Jana Hoever on loan for the rest of the season.
This may have put their pursuit of the Ipswich defender on hold, but Charlton have also shown interest in taking him on loan for the rest of the season too.
It seems Clarke won't be short of options when it comes to potential suitors, and a move to a club where he will be starting week-in-week-out will do him the world of good, following a long spell away from first-team action.
