The 35-year-old full-back announced his emotional exit from St James’ Park in April, bringing an end to a highly successful four-and-a-half-year spell on Tyneside.
After running down his contract, Trippier has opted for Molineux as his next destination, bringing elite pedigree and invaluable top-flight experience to Rob Edwards’ squad.
The former England international is set to sign a two-year contract with Wolves, including an optional third year based on performance milestones.
Trippier will undergo a medical at the club’s training ground next week after returning from a family holiday. The move represents a major coup for Wolves, who saw off strong competition from domestic and overseas suitors to secure the high-profile free agent.
Trippier leaves a significant legacy at Newcastle, having become the first major signing of the club’s Saudi-led takeover when he arrived from Atletico Madrid for £12m in January 2022.
He helped guide the Magpies from the Premier League relegation zone to consecutive UEFA Champions League campaigns and lifted the EFL Cup in 2024-25, where he assisted Dan Burn’s opener in the final.
Trippier slipped down the pecking order behind Tino Livramento during the 2025–26 campaign, making his final appearance for Eddie Howe’s side as a late substitute in their last home game of the season against West Ham United.
For Wolves, signing the 54-cap veteran brings immediate leadership to their defensive unit. The right-back is no stranger to the demands of a promotion push, having previously featured in the second tier with Barnsley and Burnley earlier in his career.
