Kily González has been appointed head coach of Inter Miami, home to Leo Messi, Luis Suárez, Casemiro, Rodrigo de Paul and Sergio Reguilón. The club created by David Beckham are second in MLS.

The club said in a statement that it has agreed terms with Cristian Alberto “Kily” González to lead the first team, and that he will formally take charge once his work permits are approved. It added that Ángel Guillermo Hoyos will continue in interim control until González and his staff arrive.

Despite their league position, Inter Miami have been on a poor run of results, a sequence that precipitated Hoyos’s exit. He will nevertheless guide the side until the handover is completed.

The Rosario-born coach returns to club management after spells with Rosario Central, Unión Santa Fe and Platense. He lasted 14 matches at Platense between June and October last year.

González becomes the fifth Argentine to manage Inter Miami, following ex-Barcelona figures Gerardo Martino and Javier Mascherano, plus Javier Morales and Hoyos.
