At the press conference ahead of the game against 1. FC Heidenheim, Bayern coach Vincent Kompany gave an update on his squad. In addition to Joshua Kimmich, he will also have to do without a number of other stars
On the last matchday before Christmas, FC Bayern have to travel to the Schlossberg to face 1. FC Heidenheim. However, coach Vincent Kompany will not be able to travel with a full squad. In addition to Jamal Musiala, who is still injured, several stars will have to stay in Munich
„Manuel Neuer, Konrad Laimer and Sacha Boey, who is still ill, will definitely not be making the trip. Then Kimmich probably won’t make it for this game either,“ Kompany announced right at the start of the press conference
When asked what the reason for Kimmich’s absence was, he replied: „The medical department will have to communicate that at the right time, but he already had a bit of a problem with the national team. It’s still the same. Of course, we’ve had so many games that this pain is too much at some point. It’s not about load management or that we don’t want to take any risks, not at all, but he hasn’t been able to train this week and has actually played his games above the pain threshold.“
Bayern fans need not fear a serious injury, however, as Kompany explained: „It’s a bit too much at the moment, but hopefully not too bad. I think he’ll be back to normal in January, but he’ll be missing for this game.“
Kompany did, however, have positive news for another key player: „Michael [Olise] is okay, Michael is back!“ Apart from that, „everyone else is back as well.“
The Bayern coach was confident that he would be able to take „enough lads who have trained at full throttle this week and who know what to expect“ with him to Heidenheim.
