King Power ‘to sell only to the right buyer’ as Leicester valuation emerges | OneFootball

King Power has set a strict condition on any Leicester City takeover, with Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha intent on safeguarding the legacy of his late father Vichai. The club is not formally for sale, and Vichai died eight years ago in a helicopter crash outside the King Power Stadium.

The Telegraph reports it is unlikely Srivaddhanaprabha will step aside unless he finds what he considers “the right buyer”. Valuations between £160m and £200m have been circulated.

The club have endured a rapid decline, three relegations in four seasons leaving them in League One. They have two wins from their first six domestic matches this season, adding pressure on Russell Martin. Known as Top, Srivaddhanaprabha has become a focal point for supporter ire.

Scottish-Indian businessman Neil Lal says he is fronting a consortium seeking to purchase Leicester, but there have been no talks with senior board members.

In a rare interview this year, he recalled arriving with Vichai on 12 August 2010, said they loved football and Leicester, and stressed he is in it for the long term. He argued selling is not his exit, he wants to finish what he started and leave the club in a good place. If a benefactor emerged who could lift Leicester like Manchester City, maybe he would consider it, though he felt that was a long way off and he wants the club successful again.
