Kingdom Holding, chaired by Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal, now holds a majority stake, with the Public Investment Fund retaining 30 per cent. The deal values Al-Hilal Club Company’s equity at 1.2 billion riyals.

Both parties signed the share purchase agreement on 16 April 2026, with completion following about four and a half months later. When the agreement was announced, the company carried an enterprise value of around 1.4 billion riyals.

The Public Investment Fund has held the principal shareholding since July 2023 as part of a wider sports club investment and privatisation drive that includes Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr. The acquisition is intended to help strengthen Al-Hilal’s commercial performance, expand international partnerships and advance infrastructure in line with global standards.

Senior figures framed the move as supportive of long-term sporting and commercial growth, financial sustainability and value creation for shareholders and the national economy. Prince Al-Waleed has previously described Al-Hilal as a national emblem and a point of pride, linking sport to broader economic and social development.
