Kjetil Knutsen signed a new contract with Bodö/Glimt on Saturday, committing his future to the Norwegian club until 2029.
According to L'Équipe, he had been in contention to replace Liam Rosenior at Strasbourg if the Englishman were courted by Chelsea to succeed Enzo Maresca.
Knutsen said the agreement had long been in place and that the paperwork, prepared years ago, has now been signed as part of a long-term plan.
The 57-year-old has been head coach since 2018 and has won the Norwegian title four times. He also led the club to the semi-finals of the most recent Europa League, the first such achievement for a team from Norway.
This season, Bodö/Glimt finished second in the league behind surprise Viking, and they are 32nd in the Champions League league phase.
