“Alisson is available to return.

“Fabinho has had five or six sessions in his legs and is ready for the squad.

“Diogo (Jota) had a little stomach problem, and only trained a little yesterday. We will see.”

On the late Ian St John

“Ian made an outstanding impression (on me). Just a fantastic person.

“I saw the pics on the wall (at Melwood) and when Ian came around the corner he hadn’t changed over the years. The smile in his eyes was there.

“A really nice, funny and smart person.”

“A week ago, we were out, now we are around again.

“The job is clear, we have to win as many football games as possible.

“Chelsea have the same targets, we’ll give it a proper try.”

On Fabinho in midfield or defence

“Both is possible. It gives us options.

“If we can find a way to bring Fab in midfield, in some games it would be quite helpful.”

On concerns over the international break

“We are concerned, yes.

“Whenever something happened in recent months it was when somebody left the ‘bubble’.

“Last international break, more cases came up.

“This is a time when you cannot make everybody happy, the players are paid by the clubs and we have to be first priority.

“Everybody agrees we cannot let players go then have to quarantine for 10 days in a hotel when they come back.”
