Waldemar Anton and Malick Thiaw are reportedly set to start together at centre-back when Germany face Serbia on Thursday.

Jürgen Klopp is set to overhaul his entire defence for the game, with the second group from his 44-man extended squad expected to take over. Bild reports that AC Milan's Thiaw will partner Anton.

Borussia Dortmund pair Anton and Nico Schlotterbeck had been in line to start, but Schlotterbeck withdrew from the squad after sustaining an injury in training on Wednesday, forcing a rethink.

The only natural alternative in the position is Stuttgart's Finn Jeltsch, who is expected to make his senior international debut either from the bench against Serbia or in Sunday's reverse fixture with Greece.

Germany lost 1-0 to Greece on Sunday.
