Kobbie Mainoo starts for England in their Euro 2024 semi-final against the Netherlands, while Luke Shaw is on the bench.

Shaw made his long-awaited return from a hamstring injury problem as a substitute during England’s dramatic quarter-final victory over Switzerland.

Although he is the only specialist left-back in the squad, Gareth Southgate has decided to keep Shaw on the bench for this one.

United’s left-back insisted earlier in the week that he’s ready to start and yet Kieran Trippier keeps his place on his less preferred flank.

Mainoo partners Declan Rice in the centre of the pitch, along with Jude Bellingham.

The Three Lions have reached their third semi-final in the last four major tournaments and are one win away from becoming the first England men’s team to reach a major final overseas.

Tonight’s game between England and the Netherlands promises to be a thrilling encounter between two traditional football powerhouses –  although both nations have performed below par at the European Championships.

It sounds ridiculous to question a team that has made the semi-finals, but France were awful ahead of their defeat to Spain last night.

Gareth Southgate’s starting eleven: Pickford; Walker, Guehi, Stones, Saka, Trippier, Mainoo, Rice, Bellingham, Foden; Kane.
