Kobbie Mainoo is set to be brought into the England side to face Panama on Saturday evening.

The Manchester United midfielder has not featured across England’s opening two games, but is in line for a recall in the final group fixture.

England struggled to break down Ghana during a disappointing goalless draw on Tuesday, with Tuchel’s midfield lacking guile against the African side.

With Declan Rice nursing a calf issue, the Daily Mail are reporting Mainoo is set to be brought in. The 21-year-old will partner Elliot Anderson in central midfield, supporting Jude Bellingham who will continue in an advanced role.

Mainoo enjoyed an impressive run-in as Manchester United secured Champions League qualification, following a renaissance under Michael Carrick.

He previously starred for England as the Three Lions reached the final of the 2024 European Championship.

England lead the standings in Group L, but must win and avoid a goal difference swing to assure top spot. Ghana are level on four points with England, heading into their final fixure with Croatia.

Thomas Tuchel’s team will take on one of the best third-placed teams in the Round of 32, if they win the group. A runners-up finish would see England take on the runners-up in Group K, which is currently Portugal.
