Köln set to sign Union SG wide man Alessio Castro-Montes | OneFootball

Kicker reports that 1. FC Köln are on the verge of signing Union Saint-Gilloise midfielder/wingback Alesssio Castro-Montes. The 28-year-old brings with him extensive experience as a wide man on both flanks during nine seasons spent in the Belgian Pro League at Union SG, KAA Gent, and KAS Eupen. At present, Castro-Montes is valued at €5m.

Kicker also notes that Köln will make room on their squad by sending Danish midfielder Jacob Christensen to Norwegian outfit Molde FK. The 24-year-old barely factored in for Köln during their 2. Bundesliga promotion campaign last year and played no role in the plans of current head coach Lukas Kwasniok. Christiansen is set to be sold outright.

Castro-Montes racked up plenty of experience in Europe whilst playing for both Union SG and Gent. The native Belgian has appeared in the Champions League, Europa League, and Conference League for the two clubs. At his peak last December, Castro-Montes’ estimated market value stood at a slightly higher €6m.
