Köln ‘to sign’ Benfica youngster Gil Neves after Thursday medical | OneFootball

Sky Sports reports that Köln will sign Benfica midfielder Gil Neves, with the Portuguese U18 international due for a Thursday medical.

The 18-year-old, currently in Benfica’s U23s, is highly rated. A six-figure fee has been agreed and Benfica will retain a significant sell-on clause.

Subject to the checks, Neves will sign a contract until 2029. He will initially play for Köln II in the Regionalliga before stepping into first-team contention.

Raised in Luxembourg, he won the U17 Euros with Portugal last summer.

Köln are focusing on promising players this summer. They are heavily linked with English youngsters Mikey Moore and David Ozoh after completing permanent deals for Manchester City duo Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and Reigan Heskey.
