Kompany and Urbig adopted a measured view of Jeanuël Belocian’s trampling of the penalty spot, saying they understood Wolfsburg’s standpoint, according to BuLi News.
Bayern edged Wolfsburg on Saturday, the game decided by a second-half goal. Harry Kane missed a Bundesliga penalty for the first time, slipping as he struck it and sending it off target, with the possibility of multiple touches also noted.
Vincent Kompany questioned what more could be expected from opponents in that situation and remained calm about the incident. Asked why his players did not protect the spot, he said it might be different on another day.
He pointed to Wednesday’s meeting with PSG, noting that if Bayern had been awarded a penalty there would have been two or three team-mates on the scene, and that small details can sometimes make the difference.
Bayern’s second-half winner could also help explain the relaxed tone from both men.
Goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, Bayern’s best performer in the first half, said he was not angry, adding that everything was on the line for Wolfsburg.
