Vincent Kompany reached a special milestone in FC Bayern’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid. The Belgian played his 100th game as head coach of the German record champions – and his record is more than impressive
With 76 wins, 13 draws and only 11 defeats, Kompany has an impressive win rate of 76%. The 38-year-old is also in the absolute top spheres in terms of points average with around 2.41 points per game – figures that have historically only been achieved by a few Bayern coaches
A look at past Bayern coaches shows just how strong Kompany’s start really is
Pep Guardiola is still regarded as the statistical benchmark at FC Bayern today. During his time in Munich, the Spaniard achieved an average of 2.52 points per game and a win rate of around 75 to 76 per cent after 100 games. Kompany is therefore currently almost on a par with the former Barca coach – a remarkable comparison when you consider Guardiola’s dominance in this era
Only Hansi Flick was slightly more efficient, achieving an outstanding win rate of around 81% with FC Bayern and an average of around 2.45 points per game. Kompany is still only just below these historic best figures

Julian Nagelsmann, who came to Munich as a great coaching talent, achieved a win rate of around 71 per cent and an average of around 2.19 points per game. He was particularly impressive in his first season, but was unable to maintain this consistency throughout his tenure. In a direct comparison, Kompany is clearly ahead here
The difference to Thomas Tuchel is even clearer, with the current England coach achieving a win rate of around 62% and around 2.15 points per game at FC Bayern. Despite individual successes, the hoped-for dominance failed to materialise – a contrast to Kompany’s very stable record to date
What sets Kompany apart is the combination of a clear game plan and a consistent points haul. While other coaching phases at FC Bayern were characterized by fluctuations, the Belgian has consistently delivered results at the highest level
Only 11 defeats in 100 games impressively underline this stability, while the 76 victories ensure that Bayern regularly live up to their role as favourites under his leadership
After 100 games, it can be said that Kompany has not only established himself at FC Bayern, but has also played his way into the top group of the most successful coaches in the club’s history
If Kompany maintains this level, he could be one of the most influential coaches in Bayern’s history in the long term. In any case, the first 100 games send a clear message: this start is no coincidence – it is historically strong.
