Kompany not ruling out Neuer injury return against Union Berlin | OneFootball

Vincent Kompany has not ruled out Manuel Neuer featuring against Union Berlin this weekend, though he indicated Jonas Urbig will probably start again, according to BuLi News.

Neuer is progressing in his recovery from a muscle fibre tear sustained 14 days ago against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

He said on Friday the 39-year-old could start on Saturday, but the final call would follow Friday's training and depend on what Neuer can do right now. He noted that training differs from a match, and if Neuer is not ready, Urbig will play.

Kompany also reflected on Neuer turning 40 next week, calling 40 young and joking that his knees once felt otherwise. He praised Neuer's hunger after a serious injury, his outstanding form this season, and stressed the mental drive required to keep delivering.

Neuer's contract expires at the end of the season and any extension remains undecided.
