Matteo Guendouzi is so delighted with Manu Koné’s performance for France that he hopes his compatriot won’t ‘play like this’ in the next derby della Capitale.
Koné and Guendouzi started in France’s 2-0 win over Belgium in the Nations League on Monday.
Ousmane Dembélé and Randal Kolo Muani provided the goals for France after a 3-1 loss to Italy in the previous fixture, and Koné, a new Roma summer signing, impressed in central midfield.
“He put in an excellent performance,” Lazio midfielder Guendouzi told L’Equipe after the match, as quoted by TMW.
“He helped us win possession and was tidy on the ball. I hope he won’t play like this in derby!”
As reported by SofaScore, Koné registered 93% accurate passes against Belgium and won eight ground duels from 13, providing four key passes.
Koné made his senior France debut against Italy on Friday last week, coming off the bench as a substitute at the Parc des Princes in Paris.
The 23-year-old had joined Roma on loan with an obligation to buy from Borussia Monchengladbach this past August and made his Serie A debut against Juventus earlier this month.
