Koné strikes after the restart as Lorient climb to seventh

Lorient beat Lens 1-0 on Saturday at Stade Bollaert-Delelis to rise from 10th to seventh in Ligue 1.

In the 54th minute Mamadou Koné swept in from the centre of the area after a pass from Panos Katseris.

Yvon Mvogo made six saves as Lens pressed, notably denying Florian Thauvin and Mickaël Cuisance, and the visitors' back line stood firm with 37 clearances.

Odsonne Edouard headed wide (85.) as the hosts chased an equaliser. Souleymane Sagnan then received a second yellow and was sent off in the second minute of second half stoppage time, before Abdallah Sima also headed off target in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time.

Lens visit Slavia Prague in the Champions League next. Lorient host Toulouse next.
