Roma midfielder Manu Koné is a doubt to start Sunday’s Derby della Capitale against Lazio after his muscle problems resurfaced in training.

Sky Sport Italia reports that he sustained a fresh muscular issue in today’s session, leaving his involvement in serious doubt.

The match kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday at 11.00 UK time, 12.00 CEST. The Giallorossi need a positive result to maintain their push for potential Champions League football, as they are joint fourth with Milan in Serie A.

Koné has made 36 competitive appearances for Roma this season, scoring two goals and providing three assists. He has already missed 10 matches with muscular issues.

If he does miss out, Niccolò Pisilli could drop into a deeper midfield role. Bryan Zaragoza and Evan Ferguson are already unavailable, while Artem Dovbyk and Lorenzo Pellegrini might return to the bench after several months out.

Paulo Dybala is tipped to support Donyell Malen, with either Matias Soulé or Pisilli completing the trident attack. The France international was also named this week in Didier Deschamps’ squad for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
