Kovač confirms doubts over Beier ahead of Villarreal duel | OneFootball

Ahead of facing Villarreal tomorrow, Borussia Dortmund coach Niko Kovač revealed that Maxi Beier is a doubt for the encounter and praised their high-flying La Liga opponents. 

"Maxi trained briefly today, but he already had some muscle problems after Saturday's game. At the moment, it looks like he unfortunately won't be available tomorrow.

"They're performing really well in the league, just behind Barcelona and Real Madrid. In the Champions League, they haven't yet achieved what they could have.

“So tomorrow's game is crucial for them; they'll have to give it their all,” Kovač added, before commenting on Fábio Silva and his lack of match minutes amid rumours of an exit.

The 54-year-old, in spite of a few uninspiring results and performances lately, insisted that he is happy with his squad and hinted at the possibility of changes to the lineup. 

“We've been working well together, and it's great to see how many healthy players are available. Now we have another demanding stretch [of fixtures] coming up.

“So, we'll need to be able to rotate [the squad] a lot and carefully consider how and when to make our moves,” Kovač explained.
