Newcastle United will lock horns with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this Tuesday night as they look to pick a good result in the quarterfinal stage of the EFL Cup. The Magpies secured a 3-0 win over Fulham recently which should keep them in high spirits ahead of this cup game on the road.
Eddie Howe will set his players up in a 4-3-3 formation and is expected to make some changes to his first team for this game. Emil Krafth and Sven Botman will both get a chance to play from the start of this clash at Merseyside.
Defence
Martin Dubravka will function in goal for the Magpies after earning a clean sheet versus the Cottagers in his last domestic outing. Sven Botman will get a chance to impress alongside Jamaal Lascelles at the heart of Howe’s defence as they focus on keeping the Chelsea attackers frustrated throughout the game.
Emil Krafth might get the nod to start at right-back while Dan Burn looks to perform at a high level on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will have to pick and choose their moments to join in on the attack.
Fabian Schar will be sidelined for this game because of injury. However, Paul Dummett will be named on the bench as he offers cover for the defensive positions.

Midfield
Lewis Miley, Bruno Guimaraes and Sean Longstaff will make up Newcastle’s midfield. Their main job would be to win the 50-50 duels for the Magpies in the middle of the park. Howe will also rely on Guimaraes to create some decent plays in the Chelsea half.
Joelinton will miss this game due to injury.
Attack
Matt Ritchie will look to give a good account of himself as the left-sided wide player while Miguel Almiron hopes to prove his worth on the right flank. Callum Wilson will spearhead Howe’s attack down the middle.
Alexander Isak is a major doubt for this game. However, Anthony Gordon will be available for selection on the bench as he waits for his chance to make an impact in the latter stages of the game if the Magpies are in need of a goal by then.
