Leeds goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson has admitted he is still pinching himself after his summer move to West Yorkshire from Vålerenga.

The Norway U-21 international was brought in as cover for Illan Meslier on a deal worth a reported £1.6m.

While he has yet to see action off the bench for the first team, Klaesson is far from cursing his lot at the Premier League outfit.

“No, this is still a bit unreal, I have to admit it. It is very nice that Leeds dared [to do] this, to bet on me,” Klaesson told Norwegian newspaper Dagsavisen (via Sports Witness).

The Oslo native also explained how he was not fully prepared for his new environment.

“I may not yet have realised how big a club I have come to. I can feel it in my interest. A league cup match sold out at Elland Road (over 30,000 spectators),” the 20-year-old said.

“I’ve been extremely well received. Every day training is really optimal.”

Klaesson is almost certain to be back-up again to Meslier for Sunday’s visit of Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
