With the season done and dusted, the players and management staff will be deservedly taking a break to recharge the batteries after yet another successful campaign.
But next season will be firmly in the thoughts of Brendan as he prepares for another hard slog in his bid to remain the dominant force domestically whilst making further strides on the European front.
To do that he needs backed financially just like last year, but this year he needs more and in my opinion we require a minimum of four quality additions added to the squad if the club really wants to back Brendan’s ambitious plans.

Admittedly last year that was made possible due to the massive fee received for Matt O’Riley, but this year it would be good to add players without losing any key ones.
The likes of Gustaf Lagerbielke, Stephen Welsh, and Luis Palma will like Scott Bain be getting offloaded and fringe players such as Kwon and Johnny Kenny will be put out on loan or permanently moved on. We also made a hefty fee thanks to Jeremie Frimpong’s transfer from Bayer Leverkusen to Liverpool.
All the proceeds from those outgoings can be put towards Brendan’s transfer kitty as we have no excuses for not doing so. We have massive cash reserves so it’s critical that we give Brendan the level of financial support he wants in the summer window.

For me we need a central defender, a creative midfielder, a skilful wide man and a goal scoring centre forward at a bare minimum whilst keeping hold of our key players. Do that and I’m fairly confident that we will remain dominant domestically plus be more competitive in Europe. It’s what we all want to see happen.
And if we do support Brendan properly this summer the board would have every right to ask for a signature from the manager on a new contract, so that he can develop these ‘assets’ further to satisfy the player trading aspirations that Celtic operates successfully. The difference is that we can do it at a higher level, turning £10m signings into £50m sales and for that the club needs a manager like Brendan Rodgers who specialises in player development.
