According to Diario Vasco, Kubo could miss Japan’s World Cup meeting with Tunisia on Sunday after being injured against the Netherlands.
The Real Sociedad winger went off in the 70th minute following a heavy collision with Denzel Dumfries that left him with a knee problem.
Japan have not issued an official medical update. After full time, images showed him leaving the stadium in a wheelchair, having earlier iced his left knee and struggled to put weight on it.
A team spokesperson is said to have downplayed his chances of featuring in Monterrey.
That would cut across Kubo’s post-match optimism, when he said he felt fine despite being unsure what had happened. The problem has prevented him from training with the rest of the squad.
