KV Mechelen bring back a familiar face ahead of 2024/2025 Pro League campaign | OneFootball

KV Mechelen have announced that Jules Van Cleemput has returned to the side for the 2024/2025 season. The defender, who came through the Mechelen system and made his debut during the 2016/2017 season, has signed a two-year deal with Mechelen. the 27-year-old defender was available on a free after his contract with Charleroi came to an end.

Van Cleemput returns to Mechelen after leaving them in 2020 for around €1m to sign for Charleroi. His time with the Zebras was plagued by injuries and he only managed 10 appearances last season. He leaves Charleroi having played 59 times and scoring two goals. The defender is a versatile addition to Mechelen and will be hoping to add to his 57 appearances from the time before. He can play either as a central defender or as a right-back. Van Cleemput will be hoping that his injuries are behind him and that he can contribute to Mechelen’s upcoming campaign.
