Kyle Walker (35) has revealed his ambition to complete a “dream” return to Sheffield United before bringing his playing career to a close, Sky Sports reports.
The 35-year-old Burnley defender, who recently announced his retirement from international duty with England national football team, insists he is not yet ready to step away from the club game. Instead, the experienced full-back is targeting a sentimental homecoming to the club where his journey began.
Walker joined Sheffield United at the age of six and progressed through the academy ranks before departing at 19, going on to enjoy a decorated career that included major honours with Manchester City.
Reflecting on his roots, Walker said: “It’s always been a dream to play for Sheffield United again. To start there at six years old and then leaving at 19. I spent so many incredible years there. I hope to play for them again. I don’t know when that will be. I don’t know if they will want me.”
Despite entering the latter stages of his career, Walker remains under contract at Burnley for more than a year and believes he can continue competing at the highest level for “a few more years” before contemplating a return to Bramall Lane.
