Despite going out to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals with Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé should still finish as the competition’s top scorer on 15 goals.
According to L'Équipe, Bayern’s own elimination on Wednesday should be enough to seal it, unless Khvitcha Kvaratskhelia scores five in the final against Arsenal on 30 May.
Eleven matches sufficed for Mbappé, who was knocked out by Bayern with Real in the last eight, 2-1, 4-3.
Harry Kane, his closest rival, was also eliminated on Wednesday with the Bavarian club by PSG. Despite a goal at 90+4, he remains on 14, with the tie 1-1 on the night after a 5-4 first leg.
The highest-placed PSG player, Khvitcha Kvaratskhelia, has 10 goals in 15 matches, an outstanding return for a winger. Ousmane Dembélé is on 7, while Arsenal’s leading scorer, Gabriel Martinelli, has 6. Mbappé is on course to claim a second top-scorer crown after 2023-2024, when he hit 8 for PSG.
