Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe is one of the best footballers in the world, and he’s also one of the biggest names. That gives him freedom when it comes to choosing his sponsorship agreements, which is why he is considering a big move.
Mbappe, who this week teased Barcelona supporters, is currently one of the faces of Nike, with whom he has been with since he was 8 years of age. However, his contract with the manufacturer giant ends in the summer, and according to L’Equipe, he is seriously considering not renewing in favour of exploring a new venture.
Nike are very keen to continue their relationship with Mbappe, but the Real Madrid man has other ideas. According to the report, he is said to be considering a brand that is not yet established in the industry, as he wants to help develop the unnamed brand in football and directly benefit economically due to this expansion – this would be a similar vein to Michael Jordan, who created the Air Jordan brand.

For now, Mbappe’s full focus will be on the 2026 World Cup, which gets underway next week. He will hope to play a starring role for France in North America, and once his involvement comes to an end, there is sure to be more clarity on his situation with Nike.
It would certainly be a bold move from Mbappe to part ways with Nike and sign with an unestablished brand, but he has the global reach to make a splash in the market. He’s clearly a very ambitious person, so it would not be a surprise if he were to go in a different direction – but for now, it will simply be a waiting game in order for more clarity on the matter.
