France and Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé has spoken out on the ongoing race for the top scorer award at this summer’s World Cup.
This comes fresh off the attacker adding to his case for the Golden Boot for the latest occasion on Tuesday night.
En route to France putting Sweden to the sword by three goals to nil, Mbappé was on target to the tune of a brace. All told, he has in turn racked up a remarkable six goals and two assists in four appearances at the World Cup.
The 27-year-old has now joined Lionel Messi atop the Golden Boot standings, one goal clear of Manchester City frontman Erling Haaland.
Speaking to the media following the full-time whistle in New Jersey late yesterday evening, Mbappé was therefore drawn on the race for the same award which he won back in 2022.
And the former PSG standout went on to assure:
“I am not looking at the top scorer rankings… also, I am convinced that Leo Messi will score even more goals!”
