Kylian Mbappé, the France captain, offered public support on Tuesday evening to Didier Deschamps after the death of the head coach's mother. Deschamps will return to France and will miss the third group-stage match against Norway.
The player said in a post that all their thoughts were with the coach and his family, adding that they were not alone. His message accompanied a photo of the squad standing in a circle observing a minute's silence.

Deschamps is set to travel home to be with his family and attend the funeral.
In his absence, assistant Guy Stéphan will lead the team against Norway on Friday at 21:00.
Mbappé's message underlined the squad's solidarity with their coach at a difficult moment.
