LA Galaxy have confirmed that their star striker and captain Javier âChicharitoâ Hernandez has sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear in his right knee.
The former Manchester United man went down in the first half of his sideâs 3-2 loss to Real Salt Lake in the quarter-finals of the 2023 US Open, and was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and in a flood of tears.
His, and the Galaxyâs, worst fears have now been realised with the clubâs top scorer for the last two seasons now set to miss the remainder of the MLS season if not longer.
The injury compounds what has already been an incredibly disappointing season for the record five-time MLS champions, who currently sit bottom of the Western Conference after 17 rounds of games.
Letâs hope for a speedy and full recovery for Chicharito.
