The 2024/25 season was a bittersweet one for Barcelona prodigy Dani Rodriguez. The 20-year-old winger got to make his first-team debut, but suffered an injury during the same game.

When the summer transfer window came around, the Spanish prospect was linked with a departure, after Barça strengthened their attacking unit with Marcus Rashford and Roony Bardghji.

Barça Atletic’s relegation to the Segunda Division also played a part in the La Masia gem contemplating an exit, with there being no shortage of interest.

In the end, though, Dani ended up staying at Barcelona and recently received medical clearance to play for the reserve team.

Celta Vigo want Dani Rodriguez in January

However, according to a report from Estadio Deportivo, Celta Vigo are pushing to sign Dani Rodriguez during the January transfer window.

The Galician outfit already had their sights set on a move for the 20-year-old La Masia graduate in the summer and are now plotting another attempt to get him in the winter.

Celta Vigo manager Claudio Giraldez is understood to be an admirer of Dani and is closely monitoring his situation at Barcelona.

The report even states that Giraldez has already made approaches to bring the youngster to Celta, urging him to favour them over other suitors, including Mallorca, Athletic Club and Valencia.

The La Liga outfit hope to finalise a deal for Dani in January, although Joan Laporta and Deco have set an asking price of around €4 million for the 20-year-old.

However, Celta’s leadership are confident in both their strong ties with Barça and Rodriguez’s potential to integrate quickly in what promises to be a demanding campaign.
