Despite Joao Felix’s loan spell with FC Barcelona ending last month, the Catalan giants were looking forward to retaining his services on a successive loan deal.

However, in recent weeks, Felix’s future appears to be growing distant from Barcelona with the Blaugrana prioritising other targets and Atletico Madrid unwilling to lower their demands for him.

Felix has accepted his fate

Now, according to Carlos Carpio Joao Felix is already certain that he will not play for Barcelona again.

The Portuguese winger is presently poised to return to his parent club Atletico Madrid, but the Rojiblancos are unwilling to retain his services owing to his fall-out with coach Diego Simeone.

Meanwhile, the club is keen to end the cycle of repeatedly loaning Felix out. Having already loaned him out to Chelsea and Barcelona, Atletico Madrid are now looking to capitalize on his departure and secure a permanent transfer.

To that end, clubs like SL Benfica and Aston Villa are seen as possible destinations for the 24-year-old forward.

Benfica are eager to bolster their front line and may have the necessary funds to acquire Felix after the sale of Joao Neves materializes. Felix also favours a move to his boyhood club.

On the other hand, the Aston Villa are also looking at him to solidify their attacking options following Mousa Diaby’s departure to Saudi Arabian side Al Ittifiaq.

Barcelona have their eyes set elsewhere

Indeed, Joao Felix does not seem to be Barcelona’s top priority right now as the team is preparing deals for Nico Williams and Dani Olmo to bolster their attacking lineup.

With Ansu Fati’s continuity a stark possibility, Barcelona would be more than covered up front, rendering Felix’s inclusion unnecessary.
