Real Madrid and La Liga have been at war for a while now, but the most recent reason for tension between the two parties has been the formal complaint filed by Los Blancos against Javier Tebas.

Despite being a vocal admirer of the Merengues, Tebas has not shared a great relationship with Florentino Perez over the years.

After their clash over the Super League issue, the recent complaint from Real Madrid reportedly brought the league president at risk of facing suspension.

Movements restart

According to a recent report from AS, the Administrative Court of Sport (TAD) has opened Tebas’ file over the complaint submitted by Real Madrid. They see it as a very serious matter and drastic steps could be taken.

As revealed by the Spanish outlet, Tebas may be suspended by the governing body if they deem it fitting. After the disqualification of Pedro Rocha, it is not entirely impossible for Tebas to face the same sanction.

The backstory

The story of Real Madrid’s complaint against Tebas takes one back to the infamous CVC deal that sent ripples through the footballing world.

Tebas finalised an agreement with CVC to sell part of the television rights of the league for an immediate financial injection of €2 billion with a slow repayment over the next 50 years.

Unsurprisingly, the idea did not go down well with clubs including Barcelona and Real Madrid. Despite facing opposition from the defending champions, however, Tebas proceeded to finalise the deal.

Florentino Perez and Co. did not hesitate and immediately filed a case against the president for taking the massive decision without clear communication with the clubs involved.

While La Liga crawled out of accusations initially, a re-convening of parties in December reopened the case against Tebas. Now, the final blow could well be incoming.
