Barcelona officially secured the La Liga title in unforgettable fashion after defeating Real Madrid 2-0 at Spotify Camp Nou, and the celebrations quickly attracted reactions from across Spanish football.

Among those present inside the stadium was Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, who watched Barcelona clinch the championship against their biggest rivals before publicly congratulating the club after the final whistle.

Barcelona’s title victory capped off what has been an outstanding domestic campaign under Hansi Flick, with the Catalan side dominating much of the season through their aggressive style, attacking football and consistency.

Tebas praises Barcelona’s project

Shortly after the match, Tebas shared a message on social media praising the work done by Barcelona throughout the campaign. 

The La Liga president highlighted the team’s identity, youth development and overall mentality.

“They have built a brave, intense and distinctive team. With young talent, ambition and a very clear playing philosophy, they are all working together to build a very solid project. 

“They have won the best league in the world – LaLiga – with authority and merit.”

Tebas published the message in both Spanish and Catalan before extending further congratulations to everyone connected with the club.

“Congratulations to the coaching staff, players, directors and fans of FC Barcelona on this title.”

Barcelona make history against Real Madrid

The victory over Real Madrid carried even greater significance because Barcelona had never previously secured the league title directly against their eternal rivals.

Heading into Sunday’s El Clasico, Barcelona needed just one point to officially become champions, but Flick’s side made sure there would be no late drama by producing another dominant performance in front of their home supporters.

The 2-0 victory allowed Barcelona to celebrate the title with three matches still remaining in the season, while also moving 14 points clear of Madrid in the table.

Now, with three league games still to play, Barcelona has the opportunity to reach the 100-point mark in La Liga, an achievement only accomplished twice before in the competition’s history.
