There was a shock in Spain’s top tier on Saturday evening as La Liga leaders Barcelona lost their unbeaten record.
Hansi Flick’s team boasted a perfect record of seven wins from seven games heading into the weekend’s action but lost for the first time in La Liga this season at Osasuna. Ante Budimir opened the scoring for the home side at the Estadio El Sadar before on-loan Bayern Munich winger Bryan Zaragoza doubled the home side’s lead before half-time.
Pau Victor pulled a goal back for Barcelona eight minutes into the second half but Osasuna restored their two-goal cushion when Budmir scored his second from the penalty spot. Abel Bretones put the hosts in dreamland with a fourth, rendering Lamine Yamal’s response for Barcelona little consolation for the stunned leaders.
Elsewhere, Real Sociedad got their campaign back on track by beating Valencia 3-0 in San Sebastian. The Basque outfit had gone six games without a win in all competitions.
Getafe defeated Deportivo Alaves 2-0 at home, while Rayo Vallecano drew 1-1 with Leganes. Mallorca won 2-1 at Real Valladolid on Friday evening.
